Black Friday and Cyber Monday are real. Semrush usually runs something in late November, though it tends to be an extended trial or a bonus on annual plans rather than a big percentage off. I now recognise them by pattern. Look for these signs:
- A percentage that sounds impossible, like 90 percent off a subscription tool
- A code that appears only after you click, which quietly opens the normal signup page in a new tab
- A date in the heading that updates itself, like a code that is somehow always expiring today
- Comments turned off, or comments that are all five words long and grateful
- No mention anywhere of who wrote the page or whether they use the tool
The mechanic behind most of them is simple. The click opens an affiliate link, the code fails, and you sign up anyway because you are already on the page. The site earns either way. I would rather tell you plainly that the link on this page is an affiliate link and that what it gives you is a longer trial, not a secret code.
Discounts that do exist but are easy to miss
Student and education pricing
Semrush runs programmes with universities and sometimes offers discounted or sponsored access through them. If you are studying, ask your department whether the marketing faculty already has an arrangement. I know two students who got access this way and paid nothing.
Non profit rates
Registered charities can ask sales about reduced pricing. It is not advertised on the pricing page. An email to the sales team with your registration details is the whole process.
Downgrade instead of cancelling
This is not a coupon but it saves the same money. When a big project ends, moving from Guru to Pro drops your bill by 110 dollars a month. I do this every year between November and January when client work slows down, then move back up in February.
Paid pause
If you work in seasons, pausing keeps your projects and history alive for a small monthly fee instead of the full price. Cheaper than paying for months you do not use, and far less painful than rebuilding your projects from scratch later.
What I would do with your budget
Take the extended trial first and do the work inside it. If at the end of that week you are convinced, pay yearly rather than monthly, because that 17 percent is the biggest real discount on the table and it needs no code at all.
Then set a reminder for next November. If a sale runs while you are on annual billing, support can sometimes apply the offer to your renewal. It costs one email to ask.

Questions I get about Semrush discounts
Is there a Semrush lifetime deal?
No. Semrush is a subscription business with live data costs, so a one time payment for permanent access does not exist. Anyone selling one is selling a shared account, which gets closed and takes your money with it.
